(21August 2011 – Hong Kong) Xinjiang Goldwind Science & Technology Co., Ltd. (“Goldwind” or the "Group”, SZ Stock Code: 002202, HK Stock Code: 2208) announced today that it was recentlyawarded a system ETL verification by Intertek, a leading global provider of quality and safety solutions.
The announcement is a key milestone for Goldwind as the certification ensures thatthe company’s 1.5MW permanent magnet direct drive (PMDD) wind turbine meetsall safety regulations in the United States and Canada – the first Chinese wind turbine manufacturer to achieve that status. The certification was a key step in the company’s entry into the Americas.
In addition to the ETL certification and as part of the company’s continued global expansion, Goldwind’s 1.5MW turbine has also passed the Sinclair Knight Merzsafety assessment and test standards for Australia while the 1.5MW and 2.5MW wind turbinesproduced by the Group’s subsidiary Vensys in Germanyhave passed the TÜV verification conducted by TÜV NORD. As Goldwind continues its expansion into international markets, its mainstay turbine, the 1.5MW PMDD continues to surpass a variety of international standards, reflecting the safety, reliability and high quality of the Group’s wind turbine generators.
