Goldwind Nominated as “The 50 Most Innovative Companies 2011” on Technology Review

(24 February 2011 –Beijing) Xinjiang Goldwind Science & Technology Co., Ltd. (“Goldwind” or the "Group", SZ Stock Code: 002202, HK Stock Code: 2208), a leading manufacturer of wind turbine generators and provider of complete wind power solutions in China, was recently nominated as one of "The 50 Most Innovative Companies 2011" ("TR 50") by Technology Review magazine, the authority of technology associated with Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The main reason for Goldwind’s nomination is that Goldwind has developed a direct-drive wind turbine that eliminates the need for a gearbox, and having fewer moving parts reduces the chance of costly mechanical failure, increase the time that turbines are operational and enhance the development of winder power industry and improves our daily living.

The nomination process has included nominees from different industries, such as energy, transportation, computing & communications, web digital media, materials and biomedicine. Goldwind and Siemens AG are the only companies nominated in the TR50 from the energy sector, and more importantly, Goldwind is the only wind power company in Asia to join the TR50.  
Mr. Jason Pontin, Editor and Publisher of Technology Review Magazine, said, “The companies nominated in the TR50 are leaders in their respective industry that offer innovative solutions to foster the development of the industries. The nominee doesn’t necessarily equate to have the biggest share market, and yet we look for companies whose ideas and technologies are being imitated by other companies.”  

Goldwind has successfully introduced innovative leading edge wind turbine technologies, and it constitutes unique features such as less materials required, low maintenance, high reliability and network enhancement that was highly acknowledged by the market and customer. Goldwind currently has 3,000 units of its direct-drive permanent magnet WTG in operation globally. As of 30 June 2010, Goldwind has accumulated sales over 8,000 units of wind turbine generators, which are equivalents to annual savings of 7 million tons of standard coal; reduce carbon dioxide emissions of 17 million tons; and yet it represented a recycle of 9.5 million cubic meters of forest.
